People who have never been to Los Angeles probably don’t know that LA is obsessed with food.  Specifically donuts and hamburgers.  I would have never believed it had I not seen it myself - but you really cannot go more than 4 blocks without seeing a donut shop or two.
This image is from Stans, in Westwood.  The whole corner smells like fried sugary heaven.

  5. no time

it’s my last few hours in LA and i’m chugging a can of starbucks doubleshot and attempting to catch up on tumblr.

The worst part about flying east is the loss of time.  As fun as the idea of time-travel is, I’m not terribly fond of losing precious sunday hours.  Sunday is bad enough.

If I were already in Chicago today, I’d be making it an all day movie day.  I’d really like to see a few in the theatre - specifically i love you Philip Morris, Black Swan, and Harry Potter.  But that will have to wait for another weekend.

This trip was much too short.  I have a small list of places i really wanted to go to, but didn’t get to see.  I have a huge list of friends I wanted to see, but couldn’t.  Next time Gadget, next time.

  6. it’s pacific time and i’m pacified.  i drove around sunset blvd in the dark and pretended i was in a david lynch movie.

beverly hills is lit up with holiday lights.  christmas in LA is nothing like christmas in Chicago.  It’s pretend christmas here.  It’s pretend everything here all the time.  Fake it until you make it and make it look real.

the sushi was good, by the way.  the company was lovely and it wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be.

  7. I got accidentally drunk last night after drinking two really strong beers at the hopleaf.  The hopleaf is just a really lovely place though and they make my favorite sandwich, the CB&J, which is a grilled cashew butter and fig jam sandwich with really yummy cheese.  It’s served with STILTON mac n cheese.  god.  my mouth just came.

Tonight is for rushing around getting ready for going to LA tomorrow.  I’m going there to help my friend Frankie celebrate her birthday with really expensive sushi.  She also requested a threesome with two hot dudes, but I have no way of guaranteeing that will happen.  But if any of you LA folks know anyone (jk).

I have exactly 8,000,000,000 things to do today, so i’m going to attempt to stay sane with list making and such.  We shall see.

omg what about here— cubemarketplace.com/t-c… — i am so open to suggestions, obviously. i always draw a blank when pressed, ha.

  9. open skies

Southwest Airlines is having a huge 2 day sale and so I’m debating my upcoming travel.  I’m sort of sad that all my travel is between the same 3 cities (L.A., Chicago, Austin).  I want to go somewhere new and do something totally different - but I suppose it’s important to see family too, and it’s not like going to LA or Austin suck in any major way.  And since all my siblings are with child or will be soon, I feel like it’s important to see them (plus i do want to get all my “Aunty” time in).  But dangit I want to go to somewhere totally new - like my ass has still never been to Portland or San Francisco and that depresses me, because I have people there and i want to go.

So where are you going?  Why don’t some of you people that I love come here and visit me :) ?
